What happens when love, loyalty, and identity collide?
For the first time since its 1991 premiere at the Royal Court, Winsome Pinnock’s acclaimed comedy-drama Talking in Tongues returns to the stage.
Olivier Award-winner and Stratford East Associate Artistic Director Jade Lewis (Sleepova, Bush Theatre); Superhoe, Royal Court) directs a sharp and intimate story of love, betrayal and belonging.
Moving between London and Jamaica, Talking in Tongues follows friends and lovers as they attempt to understand themselves - and each other. This bitingly funny, achingly honest play asks what happens when the people closest to us speak a language we can’t quite translate: across cultures, across continents, and everything left unsaid.
Tamara Lawrance (Time, BBC; Get Millie Black, Channel 4) stars as Claudette, with Kayla Meikle (Time, Small Axe, BBC) as Leela.
