Our Story

We believe stories help us make sense of the world. They open our hearts and minds to other perspectives and help us understand each other a little better.

At Stratford East, we tell stories you've never heard before, in ways you've never seen before. From new plays and musicals to reimagined classics and our much-loved pantomime, our thrilling productions are made by artists at every stage of their careers. This work speaks to the communities of East London and the times we live in, and we want them to travel to audiences far beyond our doors.

Off stage, our talent development, learning and participation programmes bring joy and connection into people's lives. We help young people from all backgrounds grow in confidence and creativity, and we open real pathways into work in the creative industries.

Whether you love theatre or think it isn't for you, you're welcome here. Come and have a great night out in our beautiful historic building. Everyone should get to feel pride and belonging in their local theatre, and we want that to be you.
