Trusts & Foundations

Charitable organisations are essential partners in Stratford East's mission to create ambitious and distinctive theatre, nurture new talent, and strengthen our local communities.

Rooted in one of the country’s most diverse boroughs, our Learning & Participation projects address some of our key social challenges and ensure people from all walks of life can explore their creativity and access the breadth of what theatre has to offer.

Led by Co-CEOs Lisa Spirling (Artistic Director), and Hanna Streeter (Executive Director), Stratford East continues to honour our legacy of artistic excellence and social engagement. We create theatre that offers a forum for challenging and necessary conversations, on and off stage, championing underrepresented voices and reflecting the world we live in.

Your support provides the stability and confidence needed to deliver this work, achieve long-term impact, and build meaningful partnerships that advance our shared goals.

Community Engagement

Providing opportunities for school children, young people, and our local communities

With a commitment to inclusion and deepening local relationships, we work with over 1000 young people and adults in our community each year, helping people to build life skills and confidence, combat isolation, and explore their creativity.

Talent Development

Nurturing the theatre-makers of tomorrow

We are dedicated to widening access to the creative industries and ensuring the people on our stages and in our creative teams reflect the community we are part of. Through our Young Company and Young Technicians programmes we offer long-term engagement and alternative pathways into creative careers, widening representation.

Creative Careers

Equipping creative freelancers

Building on our founder’s belief in theatre as a place for innovation and collaboration, we invest in the artists and creative freelancers shaping the future of the industry. We help create opportunities for connection, professional development, and career progression.

Artistic Excellence

New work & commissioning

From launching groundbreaking playwrights to staging urgent, socially engaged work, we have long been a home for stories that might otherwise go unheard. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Lisa Spirling, one of the UK’s most influential champions of new writing, Stratford East is deepening this commitment.
