GLEAM
By Valentine Hanson
Gleam is a self-penned and semi-improvised spoken word monologue touching on mental health, identity, class, race, social media and a bit of football in the mix. Plus, what it means to be an adult, sexually attractive or not, and how the 80s weren't all that bad...right?
MEND, OR A PERFORMER'S ATTEMPT TO REASSEMBLE A HEART
By Helikon Theatre Company
A solo performance piece about heartbreak. Currently in development, it is a fluid, multi-disciplinary piece containing fragments of movement, text, music, and objects, assembled & dissembled by the central solo performer. These fragments, the space, and the performer create a fractured mosaic of past memories and absent love in an attempt to mend a broken heart. MEND seeks to evoke the vast messiness of heartbreak, in its pain, its healing, and its catharsis. The work presented is the result of a week-long residency at ARC in Stockton-on-Tees.
DUBLIN DOESN'T LOVE ME
Written and performed by Robert Thompson and directed by Gabrielle MacPherson
In 2010, a penguin was stolen from Dublin Zoo. In 2015, Rob met the man that did it. A bizarre true story of the lengths someone will go for love. The story follows Rasher, a heroin user who sleeps on the streets, as he tries to rekindle his relationship with his ex-wife and children. A journey that has him outrunning a Scottish drug dealer, stealing a penguin and betting his life on a bare-knuckle boxing match. All in the name of love.
