
Stratford East will be hosting a Directing Masterclass with malakaï sargeant. malakaï is directing babirye bukilwa's play YUMMY as part of our BURN IT DOWN series.
The session will focus on critical approaches to text, looking particularly at the way in which words are laid out on a page can inform how to stage dialogue. It will largely look at this through the prism of Afro-queering work and will draw on contemporary writers including babirye bukilwa, debbie tucker green, Mojisola Adebayo and Travis Alabanza.
This free workshop is suitable for early to mid-career artists aged 16+, but open to all levels whilst centring the experience and safety of Black and Queer people.
