Welcome to PETRICHOR, a new dystopian, immersive theatrical experience!

We are so excited to welcome audiences to a socially-distanced theatrical experience at Stratford East. Come and explore ThickSkin's PETRICHOR, a new immersive show filmed for 360° virtual reality. Alongside their virtual tour of PETRICHOR, the experience can be viewed on smart-devices or laptops, with or without VR headsets.

PETRICHOR is a story set in a parallel universe, exploring escape and connection and follows two characters who live in a monochrome world where every day is the same. Featuring two performers, an original soundtrack and projected animation, PETRICHOR’s story is told through bold movement, animation and film.

Arriving at Stratford East from Tue 08 - Sat 12 Dec 2020, there are two ways you can enjoy PETRICHOR, either in person at our theatre (socially-distance) OR from the comfort of your own home using your own devices (no VR necessary)!

This is the first show in a series of MATCHBOX plays by ThickSkin – bringing high-quality digital theatre to new audiences, with a focus on engaging young people with the arts.
About ThickSkin
ThickSkin Theatre was established in 2010 by Neil Bettles and Laura Mallows, who had worked together for several years at Frantic Assembly.
ThickSkin creates bold and ambitious theatre; reaching and inspiring young, new and representative audiences through their distinctive physicality and cinematic style. They nurture talent across all areas of theatre-making, providing a springboard for artists who are ready to take a leap. From their base in Manchester, they deliver their programme across the UK and beyond.
MATCHBOX emerged from ThickSkin's desire to make theatre accessible and exciting for young people. As part of their year-round offer to theatres, community groups and schools, MATCHBOX presents bite-sized performances accompanied by fun virtual reality experiences and energetic physical-devising workshops. MATCHBOX projects are curated and produced by ThickSkin to celebrate experimentation and to showcase work by early-career artists.
