From 03 Jun to 03 Aug, you can watch the “rough, ready and bloody brilliant” (Time Out) REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL from the acclaimed theatre company Graeae in association with the Belgrade Theatre Coventry. The production was first performed on our stage in 2010 and then again in 2017 to sold-out audiences. Directed by the company’s Artistic Director Jenny Sealey, the show features the infectiously iconic music of Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
Part gig, part play and featuring stone-cold classic songs including Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick; Plaistow Patricia; Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll; Sweet Gene Vincent; What A Waste and the titular Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3), REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL tells the coming-of-age tale of Vinnie and his mates who would do anything to see Dury at the Hammersmith Odeon, only the gig is sold out. But life has a habit of throwing strange things, and one night of frustration becomes something else entirely for the group...
The production is suitable for ages 14+ and contains strong language. The show is approximately 2hrs. The stream will also be captioned and audio described.
