ANNOUNCING NEW SHOWS

We’re excited to announce two incredible productions from award-winning playwrights, as well as a whole host of new ONE NIGHT STANDS featuring music, comedy for everyone and jaw-dropping cabaret. We're also thrilled to announce Pinocchio as our panto for 2024.

COMEDY CLUB 4 KIDS  - Friday 5 April, 2pm 
Since 2005, the COMEDY CLUB 4 KIDS has been getting the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children and their families... but without the rude bits!

The show is family friendly, but without any patronising idiocy. In fact, it's just like a normal comedy club, but it's on in the day, kids are allowed in, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of heckles like "why is that your face!?"

LIVE AT STRATFORD EAST WITH SOPHIE DUKER - Friday 5 April, 7.30pm 
Live At Stratford East is back with Sophie Duker, star of Taskmaster, Live at the Apollo and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.  

She’ll be joined by Mock the Week and Live at The Apollo’s Jen Brister, Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominee Ian Smith, and Nabil Abdulrashid, as seen on Live at The Apollo, QI and Have I Got News For You

THE COMEDY STORE PLAYERS - Friday 12 April, 7.30pm 
An improvised show from the stars of Whose Line Is It Anyway? 

The resident improv troupe from the most famous comedy club in the world, The Comedy Store Players have been delighting audiences for over 30 years. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see the original stars of Whose Line Is It Anyway? strutting their stuff on tour. Expect lightning-quick reactions and world-class silliness! 

There’ll be improvised songs and games and, of course, the audience is always at the helm, leading the show with its suggestions. 

TALES FROM THE BITTEN PEACH – CABARET - Saturday 13 April, 7.30pm 
Pan-Asian Cabaret Collective The Bitten Peach brings a legendary night of cabaret variety to Stratford East as they crack open the mystical book of Tales from the Bitten Peach.

Join our queer Asian heroes on a magical quest to save the world by re-uniting the celestial pop band The Super Stars! Expect drag, burlesque, circus and The Bitten Peach’s signature brand of queer Asian camp.

cheeky little brown - 16 – 20 April 2024
How do you break up with your best friend?  

Meet Lady, a determined sharp-tongued charmer who loves her best friend Gemma as much as she loves a late-night kebab. It's Gemma’s birthday party. The two haven’t seen each other for six months. 

cheeky little brown, by Papatango Prize-winning playwright Nkenna Akunna (Some of Us Exist in the Future), is a failed night out, a musical, a show about heartbreak and queerness, taking place on a journey through the city Lady calls home. 

With original songs, this coming-of-age story examines a friendship between two Black women, on diverging paths of self-love and acceptance. 

A tiata fahodzi production. Original tour co-produced by tiata fahodzi, Bristol Old Vic & Belgrade Theatre. 

ELAINE DELMAR: THE MUSIC OF GEORGE GERSHWIN & COLE PORTER Saturday 27 April, 7.30pm 
One of the great British jazz voices, the multi award-winning singer Elaine Delmar is joined by a world-class line-up of musicians to perform her acclaimed interpretations of two of the greatest composers of all time: George Gershwin and Cole Porter. 

Through a diverse repertoire curated by Elaine, the concert will feature classic arrangements of Gershwin and Porter, alongside fresh interpretations of the 20th Century's most iconic music - including numbers such as: “S'Wonderful”, “Embraceable You”, “Begin the Beguine”, “Night and Day”, “Summertime”, “I Get A Kick Out Of You” and many more. 

JAZZ ORIENT WITH BALUJI SHRIVASTAV OBE Saturday 8 June, 7.30pm 
Jazz Orient are Baluji Shrivastav OBE (sitar, dilruba, gopi), Linda Shanovitch (vocals, percussion), James Welland (keyboards, violin), Sukhdeep Dhanjal (tabla) and Rishi Gulati (saxophone) who celebrate Latin, Indian & jazz music, creating a kaleidoscope of rhythms and melodies with intricate patterns of percussive footwork and graceful movements from Indian dance. 

With six albums so far and several tours under their belt, music from Jazz Orient is for the heart, mind and soul and features a dazzling array of instruments and is full of surprises. 

BLACK IS THE COLOR OF MY VOICE - 11 – 15 June 2024
Inspired by the life of Nina Simone and featuring many of her most iconic songs performed live. Apphia Campbell’s acclaimed play follows a successful singer and civil rights activist as she seeks redemption after the untimely death of her father. She reflects on the journey that took her from a young piano prodigy destined for a life in the service of the church, to a renowned jazz vocalist at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement.  

The show has toured the UK nationally to standing ovations and played sell-out seasons in Shanghai, New York, Edinburgh and the West End of London.  

AN EVENING OF GOSPEL LIVE! - Friday 28 June, 7.30pm 
From the producers of hit shows An Evening of Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Bob Marley, Classic Reggae and Soca Carnival Live, Don’t Stop the Beat Productions are proud to present their brand-new show for 2024, An Evening of Gospel LIVE! 

Bringing together church royalty, the sensational Jerome Brown, virtuoso guitarist Michael Brown, and the angelic vocals of Wayne Hernandez, along with powerhouse guest vocalists, live band and choir who will uplift your spirit and touch your soul.

Will Blue Rinse Fairy and Krik Krak the cricket be able to keep Pinocchio off the crooked path, as he battles the trials and tribulations of becoming a “real boy”?
