The Jez Franks/Tori Freestone Duo are a jazz duo that interpret a mixture of jazz styles from classic to contemporary in their own unique way. Set up in 1993, Jez Franks (guitar) and Tori Freestone (saxes, flutes and vocals), have established a rapport that proves both exiting and versatile.
The duo has appeared at wine bars, restaurants and functions up and down the country, including Kensington Palace, the Dorchester, the Royal Naval College at Greenwich, many of the Hilton Hotels, residencies at Pizza Express and All Bar One and performances for Jazz FM and Staffordshire Guitar Festival.
Tori Freestone (Saxophones, flutes, vocals) has played with groups in a wide variety of styles from Jazz to Latin including NYJO, Lee Hazlewood, the Creative Jazz Orchestra’, ‘Orquesta La Timbala’, and her own quartet, with performances at festivals and venues all over Europe including the Royal Festival Hall, National Theatre, the London Jazz Festival, Jersey Jazz Festival, 606 Jazz Club and the Manchester Jazz festival.
Jez Franks (guitars) took up the guitar age 15 and attended Leeds College of Music from ’91-’94 acquiring a 1st in the Jazz, Popular and Contemporary Music Course, plus the College’s Jazz Guitar Prize. As well as being Senior Guitar Lecturer at Leeds College of Music and visiting Guitar Examiner at Trinity College of Music in London and the Welsh College of Music and Drama, he leads a Jazz quartet and trio. He also plays with a number of jazz ensembles and has worked with a variety of names in jazz and pop including Julian Arguelles, Henry Lowther, Laurence Cottle, Herbie Flowers and Rick Astley..
