The International Festival for Emerging Artists, also known as IFEA is a new initiative that brings together young emerging artists from all over the world to share their creativity, talent, cultures and stories. It is a unique global celebration of diversity and creativity expressed through a multitude of art forms such as Theatre, Dance, Music, Visual Arts, Street art.
The inaugural Festival was held in East London between 7th to 20th July 2008 at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Stratford Circus and Think Store. It involved 48 emerging artists with an average age of 25 from 18 countries around the world. It included Collaborating sessions (artist-led workshops), Discovering sessions (expert classes) and also Public Performances chosen for their ability to inspire and entertain.
IFEA 2008 was led by a steering group of 14 partners and was contributed to by a network of a further 16 national and international arts organisations as well as UK supporters and stakeholders. The partners include British Council, East London Dance, Lift, London Borough of Newham, Manchester Contact Theatre, New VIc, Serious, Stratford Circus, Theatre Venture, UEL Institute of Performing Arts, Urban Development and Visiting Arts.
IFEA's vision is for young emerging artists from all over the world to share creativity, their talent and passions, their cultures and their stories. Underpinned by Theatre Royal's pioneering ethos of developing professional theatre that is holistic in audience development and artist excellence, the International Festival for Emerging Artists will build gradually up to 2020, culminating with young emerging artists from all over the world collaborating in a unique global celebration of diversity, art and creativity.
