"The team that got the first Olivier Award nomination for a panto with Cinderella in 2007, return with an Aladdin that is as good as you could wish for." The Times (review)
"Excellent sets, songs and choreography add to the appeal of this pleasurable production." The Stage (review)
A magic carpet ride of a panto, as Aladdin, a poor boy from the mystical East (and no, we don't mean Barking), battles with the evil Abanazar to thwart his plot to rule the world. Will the help of the Genie of the Lamp's mighty fine powers and some wise words of advice from his mum, Ma Twanky (plus some well-meaning interference from a whole host of friends), be enough for Aladdin to overcome this wicked if somewhat deranged foe and win the heart of the beautiful Princess?
"...matches the house and its audience's expectations and I reckon all of them had as good time as I did." British Theatre Guide (review)
The magic of Aladdin is conjured up by the same creative team that brought us Cinderella two years ago - the only panto ever to have been nominated for an Olivier Award! Aladdin is another in the great Theatre Royal tradition of original pantos full of glorious good-guys, boo-able baddies, great new songs to sing along to and, most important of all, London's loudest and liveliest audience!
"It made my Christmas." Radio 4 (review from 22mins 30)
"Aladdin is sheer genie-us" Ilford Recorder (review)
Theatre Royal’s Artistic Director and Director of Aladdin, Kerry Michael, Trish Cooke (Book), Robert Hyman (Songs), Omar Okai (Choreographer) and Jenny Tiramani (Set Designer), all of whom made Cinderella so special, have been joined this year by Matthew Xia (Associate Director), Kristen Dempsey (Costume Designer), Sean Green (Musical Director), Mark Doubleday (Lighting Designer), John Leonard (Sound Designer), Paul Kieve (Illusionist), Darren Lang (Associate Illusionist) and Antonio Ferrara (Assistant Director).
