Theatre in the Community
We know the power of theatre can change people’s lives.
Often young people don’t want to come and be involved in a theatre or be famous…so we go to them!
Hear My Voice is our new community project, working with the new and established communities of East London. Take part, register your interest now.
Hear My Voice
What is it? A three year project using Playwriting and Theatre to build bridges between the established communities of East London and the newly arrived communities, giving young people a chance to shout their own stories from our roof tops.
Theatre Royal Stratford East playwrights and directors will work with community and youth groups, supporting them in writing their own plays… using the groups ideas and lives as inspiration.
Their plays will be part of a BIG festival of new writing here at the theatre.
What will you be doing?
Young people taking part will
• Develop Language and Literacy skills
• Make new friends
• Get a chance to share their heritage and culture
• Get their plays on our stage
• Be creative with no exams attached!
How do you join?
We are currently recruiting groups to take part.
