THE KING MUST DANCE NAKED
WRITTEN BY NIGERIAN PLAYWRITE AND DIRECTOR, FRED AGBEYEGBE
Fri 3 - Sat 4 Aug 2012
The King Must Dance Naked
by Nigerian playwright and director Fred Agbeyegbe.
The story revolves around the Nigerian law that only one child of royalty, the son, can rise to power in his lifetime and become king.
When Queen Odosun gives birth to twins and must sacrifice one of them, it is naturally assumed that she must offer her baby girl to the African gods.
However, an oracle forewarns that if her daughter survives, she will one day rise to the throne...
The play is a far cry from traditional theatre, crossing genres with an intoxicating mix of myth and entertainment.
