As a nationally and internationally important theatre rooted strongly in its local community, Theatre Royal Stratford East makes a positive contribution to many people's lives. Situated in the heart of London's youngest and most diverse borough - and with a variety and vitality of work, audiences and artists that you would be hard pushed to find anywhere else - the Theatre's reach and reputation rises ever higher.
From Joan Littlewood's A Taste of Honey in 1958 to the Olivier Award winning street dance production of Pied Piper, Theatre Royal's driving belief for over 50 years has been of a continuous loop between its local community and what appears on its stage - today this extends to our activity throughout the building and beyond.
Why do we need your help?
We are proud of our commitment to new voices and new audiences and in order to continue and expand our work we need your help. We need to raise
£250,000
each year. Our
government funding represents only 40% of
the necessary target. This is a critical period for the Theatre Royal as we aspire to create the successors to ‘Pied Piper', ‘The Big Life' and the recent smash hit ‘The Harder They Come' and welcome both newcomers and seasoned theatre-goers through our doors.

Production Sponsorship and Support
This is open to companies and individuals. Corporate sponsors enjoy nights out with clients and staff, as well as advertising and branding opportunities. Individuals can join a donor syndicate and catch private glimpses of the creative process as they follow the journey of putting on a play or musical.
The New Writing Fund
This Fund is supported by writers and others for whom the word is the key. The Fund underpins our commitment to new writing: allowing writers and artists to develop in a supportive environment over a period of time, creating contemporary new work that is inspiring and exciting. Fund members have the opportunity to meet with writers and wordsmiths, sit in on workshops and sharings of work-in-progress and celebrate at premieres of the new work.
The Youth Arts Consortium
Members of our Youth Arts Consortium passionately believe in the transforming power of the arts, and drama in particular. Every year hundreds of young people begin their artistic journey with us. Our work with young people develops their creative and social skills - enabling them to explore the challenges they face and share their stories - and uncovers hidden talent and artists of the future.
The Vision Collective
A collective of visionary individuals whose contributions help ensure the future artistic development of the Theatre. Members receive invitations to receptions with the artistic director and cast, opportunities to attend rehearsals and workshops, and a newsletter with Theatre updates. From £500.

Name a Seat
