Musical Theatre Submissions

Theatre Royal Stratford East is dedicated to breaking new ground with musicals that bring contemporary and urban music into the mainstream of British theatre through diverse and unheard stories. Our mission is to develop new voices, so whether you are on your first or fifteenth song or musical, we are interested in hearing about your work

We are interested in musical that engage audiences with their story, form, or music from writers of all ages and backgrounds. We welcome big, ambitious pieces with large casts as well as chamber musicals. We believe in a theatre that reflects the world we live in and can reach out to a diverse audience.

While we are especially focused on musicals that make use of contemporary and urban music genres, we are also interested in work that might use a traditional MT sound to explore new ideas or stories.

We accept scripts from writers with agents and those without. Our goal is to discover artists we can develop long-term relationships with. We want to find ambitious and risk-taking writers of words, music and beats.

We are happy to look at completed projects, projects in development, pitches, and song samples. It does not have to be a completed script, but please do give us some context for the work you submit.
