Applicants must be aged 18 or over. This is a brilliant opportunity to experience what it’s like to be involved in a main stage production in a major London theatre.

To apply, please send a recent photo of you and your contact details over to Daisy Hale, Assistant Producer at

Shebeen is the winner of the 2017 Alfred Fagon Award, and it will receive its world premiere at Nottingham Playhouse this June. Set in St Ann’s Nottingham in 1958, it focuses on Jamaican couple Pearl and George, who are helping Caribbean migrants to cut loose by hosting a forbidden party at their Shebeen. Pearl has dreams of opening a restaurant on the Wells Road. George, a retired boxer, has hung his dreams next to his gloves. A young interracial couple are falling in love and figuring out how to be together. As tensions mount on a night filled with rum, calypso and dancing, and with the Shebeen under threat from the police, everyone is forced to confront the uncomfortable truths their relationships are built upon.

You will get to perform alongside the actors Karl Collins, Martina Laird, Ronan Bell and Danielle Walters.

You would have the opportunity to perform as guests at the shebeen in the play. There will be some dancing, (not choreographed) and general enjoyment of the party going on around you. You don’t have to have performed professionally (or at all!) before.

You would need to be available for all performances from (click here for all performance dates and times) and a workshop, technical rehearsal and dress rehearsal on the following dates:

Workshop: Fri 25 May (6-9pm) OR Sat 26 May (10am-1pm) at Theatre Royal Stratford East
Evening Technical Rehearsal: Tue 19 Jun at Theatre Royal Stratford East
Afternoon Dress Rehearsal: Wed 20 Jun at Theatre Royal Stratford East

If you can’t make every date, please do still get in touch – just let us know which dates you are unavailable. You will be paid a supernumery session rate of £26.
