Theatre Royal Stratford East and East London Dance are looking for six ballroom dancers (three couples) - a COME DANCING TEAM - to dance on stage at Theatre Royal at the forthcoming production of COME DANCING…!

Our COME DANCING TEAM will dance on stage before the show, in the interval and at the end and will need to dance the following styles: quickstep, foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha-cha and waltz.

The show exposes the problem of racism in the late 1950s: the cast of thirteen includes only two black actors and it is pertinent to the story that our COME DANCING TEAM are white. For the purpose of placing the story in Ilford Palais in 1958/9, the couples should be male-female; and the dancers, who should all be 40+ - and really enjoy their dancing (they don’t have to be award-winning!) - will need to be available for the following performances:

Practicalities: It will mean arriving at Theatre Royal at approximately 6.30pm on each of the above dates (2pm on Sats 20 and 27 Sept); and dancers will be asked to wear a 50s costume which will be provided. It will also be necessary to be available for a costume-fitting and orientation with the creative team during the week leading up to the show; and a dress rehearsal (Fri 12 Sept eve or Sat 13 Sept afternoon – exact times tbc).

Each dancer will see the show from special seats on stage each night; plus receive two complimentary tickets for friends and family - and up to 4 at concessionary rate (all subject to availability).
